William (Bill) J. Murin
Chief Human Resources Officer, UC San Diego Health Sciences
Mr. William (Bill) J. Murin is the chief human resources officer at UC San Diego Health Sciences. He is responsible for the Human Resources functions serving UC San Diego Health Sciences, including the Health System and School of Medicine. Mr. Murin will be leading the effort to establish a fully integrated HR shared services model across UC San Diego Health Sciences.In addition, he serves as a member of the Health System’s Executive Team and is chair of the Human Resources Steering Committee.
Prior to joining UC San Diego Health System, Mr. Murin served as executive vice president of System Services at St. Joseph Health in Orange, California, where he had responsibility over legal, compliance, HR, information technology, clinical informatics, advocacy, philanthropy, risk management and security services.
Mr. Murin, who has more than 20 years of senior management experience in health care organizations, holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Loyola University in Los Angeles. He is also a member of the National Human Resources Association, Human Resources Policy Association and the Hospital Council of Southern California.
Mr. Murin has received many honors, including a Gallup Organization “Great Workplace Award,” California Parent-Teacher Association’s Distinguished Person Award, and 2009 National Human Resources Association HR Executive of the Year Nominee.
