Jacobs Medical Center

“Everyone who navigates our health system, whether they are a newly diagnosed cancer patient, waiting for a heart transplant, or expecting a baby, should feel they are the center of their care team, connected to truly effective, evidence-based health care options and simply listened to, in every moment.”

PAUL S. VIVIANO
CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER,
UC San Diego Health System
ASSOCIATE VICE CHANCELLOR,
UC San Diego Health Sciences

UC San Diego Jacobs Medical Center will be a 10-story, 509,500-square-foot addition to the UC San Diego La Jolla Health System campus, adding 245 inpatient beds. It will include four pavilions in one location: the existing Thornton Pavilion plus three new specialty pavilions:

The Pauline and Stanley Foster Pavilion for Cancer Care
Rady Pavilion for Women and Infants
A. Vassiliadis Family Pavilion for Advanced Surgery

Most importantly and by design, the building centers on the patient experience. It reflects each of these specialty areas and integrates views of the spectacular scenery of around La Jolla.

A Rich, Collaborative Environment Further Advances Patient Care

Located in the heart of UC San Diego’s booming research and teaching campus, UC San Diego Health System is strategically positioned to further integrate patient care with leading-edge discoveries. It builds upon our legacy of bench-to-bedside collaboration among scientists, clinical researchers, physicians and trainees.

The addition of Jacobs Medical Center to the already thriving UC San Diego La Jolla Health System campus will create an epicenter of advanced clinical care and pioneer new ways of advancing health: from patient safety to leading-edge technology. It will become a hub for translational medicine and a tangible symbol of UC San Diego Health System’s commitment to compassionate patient care, discovery and education of the next generation of doctors. Jacobs Medical Center will be a catalyst for innovation, attracting multidisciplinary endeavors and talented researchers, physicians and nurses.
