The Roy lab's main interest is to explore mechanisms that convey and deposit cargoes into axons, dendrites and synapses. Towards this, they are broadly interested in physiologic neuronal transport/trafficking, and also potential abnormalities in these processes in neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease. Techniques used: Live imaging of neuronal trafficking using regular and photoactivatable fluorescent proteins, image-analysis, immunofluorescence, biochemistry, proteomics/bioinformatics (in collaboration with John Yates, Scripps) and data-driven computational modeling.
