Perdana University was established in February 2011 as a Public-Private Partnership initiative under the Unit Kerjasama Awam Swasta (UKAS) of the Prime Minister’s Department. Its establishment is in line with the National Higher Education Strategic Plan on the development of first-class human capital.
The Perdana University Graduate School of Medicine (PUGSOM) is formed to realize a transformative agenda. The US-style Doctor of Medicine program offered by PUGSOM is the first and only graduate entry medical program in Malaysia.
Perdana University is proud to collaborate with the University of California, San Diego (UC San Diego) in the delivery of the Doctor of Medicine program. Faculty from PUGSOM and UC, San Diego will ensure that students are exposed to an education that is infused with academic rigor and vigor to produce professionals in the medical field.
Perdana University is also partnered with various other institutions and organizations. They include the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development, the Zurich University of Applied Sciences – School of Management and Law, the Asia Pacific Bioinformatics Network, the BGI-Shenzen and the Institute of Bioinformatics, Bangalore.
These collaborations are managed and facilitated by the various Schools and Centres of Perdana University including the Perdana University – Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, the School of Occupational Therapy, the Centre for Bioinformatics, the Centre for Languages and Humanities and the Centre for Research Excellence.
