Leadership Education and Development Program

Program Overview:

The LEAD program is designed to assist participants to develop the skills and knowledge required to successfully navigate careers as future leaders in health care. The program prepares scholars to serve as health professional leaders who can design and deliver cost effective health care systems that meet and exceed international standards. Accepted applicants will be appointed as J-1 exchange scholars, with their primary focus on research.

LEAD combines a carefully structured Master's Degree in Advanced Studies in Leadership of Healthcare Organizations along with the mentor-led experiential training. At UC San Diego, scholars are acculturated to health care leadership practices in a leading academic medical institution in the U.S. while strengthening their foundations in research. This master's degree program in the Leadership of Healthcare Organizations equips professionals with integrated leadership and management skills with an emphasis on clinical process improvement through a better understanding of finance, technology, team performance and organizational change. The program optimizes the potential for a successful career in health care leadership including working in setting such as medical cities, medical schools or other large health care organizations.

Prospective Candidates:

International graduates (i.e. from medical, dental and pharmacy backgrounds) who are interested in honing research and health care leadership skills for career advancement.
