With more than 700 faculty members, the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine is ranked consistently in the top two nationally in federal research funding per faculty member. Of more than 400 life sciences companies based in San Diego, more than half were founded based on technology developed at UC San Diego by UC San Diego faculty and graduates.
UC San Diego Health Sciences’ research affiliations extends to many other reputable institutions including Salk Institute, The Scripps Research Institute, and the Burnham Institute – which focuses on the fundamental molecular mechanisms of cancer and devising prototype therapies for treatment.
