Dr. Carolyn Barber grew up in Texas, attended Princeton University for her undergraduate work, and graduated from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in 1993. She completed her internship year at UCSD, married her husband in the Bay Area, and completed her residency at Stanford University Medical Center in 1997. She served as Chief Resident here and worked at both Kaiser Santa Clara Hospital and Stanford Hospital EDs. In 1999, she returned to San Diego and joined the clinical faculty of both Scripps Mercy Hospital and UCSD Depts. of Emergency Medicine. She has been part time faculty at Mercy for 11 years and has been faculty at UCSD for 15 years. She enjoys teaching the residents and sends weekly email lectures on a variety of current ED topics and literature. Her other interests include her three teenage boys, travel, photography, volunteering, and she plays competitive tennis nationally. Publications
