Dr. Davut Savaser, born and raised in sunny Los Angeles, California, completed his undergraduate degree at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and ventured to the east coast where he received both his medical degree (MD) from The Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx, NY, and his Masters Degree in Public Health (MPH) at Harvard University (Boston) in Quantitative Methods with a focus in Decision Sciences. After getting his fill of delicious Italian food in the Bronx and some wicked Boston “chowdah,” he ventured back to the west coast, to San Diego, to complete the trifecta of his internship, residency and fellowship; his transitional year internship was completed at Scripps Mercy Hospital, with his residency in Emergency Medicine and subsequent fellowship in Undersea and Hyperbaric Medicine, both completed at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD). His academic interests include Undersea and Hyperbaric Medicine, Education through Simulation, Emergency Ultrasound, as well as Correctional Medicine/Custody Medical Services, wherein lay his research interests. He is currently the Newsletter Editor for the Undersea and Hyperbaric Medicine Section of the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) and is a voting member and fellow of the American Academy of Emergency Medicine (FAAEM). Dr. Savaser also works as an emergency physician at Pioneers Memorial Health District (PMHD) in Brawley, California, and acts as the supervising Hyperbaric Physician for a stand-alone hyperbaric center in Anchorage, Alaska. He is also a reviewer for the Journal of Emergency Medicine (JEM). Outside of work and academics, he enjoys the comforts of fishing, playing basketball, diving, golfing and enjoying a number of beach activities in beautiful San Diego. Publications
