Michael Criqui, MD, MPH07/2015 2015 Eugene Braunwald Academic Mentorship Award, in recognition of outstanding contributions as a member in dev​eloping academic cardiovascular physicians and scientists. Dr. Criqui will be honored during the Opening Session Ceremony of the American Heart Association Scientific Sessions, November 8, 2015 in Orlando, Florida.
Cedric Garland, MD, PhD07/2015 Knighthood in the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic, for meritorious service or achievement in the fields of literature, the arts, economy, public service and social, philanthropic and humanitarian activities and for long and conspicuous service in civilian and military careers. Dr. Garland was recognized for his research on the prevention of cancer through the use of Vitamin D, and his development of data systems supporting cancer research.
Maria Rosario Araneta, PhD07/2015 Featured article in "The Best of Care" at the Diabetes Care Symposium of the American Diabetes Association.
Dr. Araneta's article entitled, "Optimum BMI cut-points to screen Asian-Americans for Type 2 Diabetes" was recognized as one of the most noteworthy origi​nal manuscripts published in Diabetes Care during the prior year. An overview of her study was presented during the 2015 Diabetes Care Symposium at the American Diabetes Association's Scientific Sessions.

Dr. Suarez was selected through a national search of junior faculty to become a fellow of The JPB Environmental Health program at Harvard University. This program aims to promote multidisciplinary research on the influence of social and physical environments on health, with a focus on disadvantaged communities. Funding is provided to conduct various collaborative investigations in environmental health for a period of 3.5 years.
