Len Lazaro

Len became a research coordinator for Dr. Loomba's research studies in 2014. He came on the team with several years of experience in clinical research. Len currently coordinates the Heavy Water study and several other treatment studies. His responsibilities include: screening and enrolling patients into the studies, monitoring follow-up visits, maintaining participant files, data collection, and regulatory submissions/ and study- start-up.
Phirum Nguyen 
Phirum Nguyen

Phirum is a research coordinator for Dr. Loomba's research team in 2012 with several years of experience in the clinical research. She coordinates the NAFLD and CHD in diabetics study, Sitagliptin treatment trial and Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency in Adults studies. As a research coordinator, her responsibilities include: enrolling and screening patients, coordinating and monitoring follow-up visit, documenting and maintaining participant files as well as doing all the regulatory aspects of research such as IRB submissions.

Archana (Ana) Bhatt

Archana (Ana) came to Dr. Rohit Loomba’s research team in 2009 with several years of experience in the field of clinical research. She coordinates the Twin and Family study in addition to the Liver study. As a research coordinator, her responsibilities include: enrolling and screening of potential study participants, coordinating and monitoring follow-up visits for participants, documenting and maintaining participant files and study regulatory documents. In addition, she is also responsible for updating and submitting study documents to the UF Institutional Review Board (IRB).

Carolyn Hernandez

Carolyn came to be a research coordinator for Dr. Loomba's liver studies in 2014. She started working for Dr. Loomba as a student volunteer in 2012 and shortly after was hired as a student assistant. After two years as a student assistant, Carolyn was hired to the full time coordinator position just as she finished her undergraduate degree at UCSD. Carolyn coordinates several treatment studies. Her responsibilities include regulatory submissions, study start-up, training students, enrolling patients, coordinating and monitoring follow up visits, creating and updating databases for data collection, and various lab managerial duties.

Kimberly Ramirez

Kimberly came to be a research coordinator for Dr. Loomba's liver studies in 2015. She began working for Dr. Loomba as a student volunteer in 2014 and shortly after was hired to a coordinator position. Kimberly studied Biology at UCSD. She currently coordinates the following observational research studies: Registry, NASH CRN Database 2, and R01 Ultrasound study. Her responsibilities include enrolling patients, coordinating and monitoring follow-up visits, maintaining participant files, and data collection/entry.

Brandon Ang 
Brandon Ang

Brandon was a research coordinator for Dr. Loomba's liver studies. He started working for Dr. Loomba as a student volunteer and shortly after being hired as a student assistant. After more than a year as a student assistant, Brandon was hired to the full time coordinator position just as he finished his undergraduate degree at UCSD. Brandon coordinates the Simtuzumab treatment trials, FLINT treatment Trial, Database 2 observational study and Registry observational study. His responsibilities include enrolling patients, coordinating and monitoring follow up visits, data collection and various lab managerial duties.
Thu Nguyen 
Thu Nguyen

Thu has been the research coordinator and lab manager for Dr. Loomba’s liver and genetics lab and clinic since 2011. Thu coordinates the FLINT treatment Trial, Database 2 observational study and Registry observational study. Her responsibilities include enrolling patients, coordinating and monitoring follow-up visits, data collection and various lab managerial duties. She is also responsible for Institutional Review Board submissions and is also responsible for training student volunteers and interns.
Laura Hernandez 
Laura Hernandez

Laura came to Dr. Rohit Loomba's research team in 2014 with several years of experience in the field of clinical research. She coordinates the Ezetimibe Study, Twin and Family study, and the Cirrhosis Study. As a research coordinator her responsibilities include: enrolling and screening of potential study participants, coordinating and monitoring follow-up visits for participants, documenting and maintaining participant files and study regulatory documents. In addition, she is also responsible for updating and submitting study documents to the UF Institutional Review Board (IRB).
