Dr. Cheng completed his PhD and MD in 2002 at Northwestern University. In July of 2002, Dr. Cheng began his research residency training here at UC San Diego and began fellowship in the Division of Hematology-Oncology in 2004. He served as chief fellow in the division in 2007. He then became a postdoctoral research associate at the Salk Institute and worked with Dr. Tony Hunter in the Molecular and Cellular Biology Laboratory.
