Division of Pediatric Rehabilitation Medicine

The inpatient Pediatric Rehabilitation Medicine (PRM) team provides an interdisciplinary treatment approach for children and adolescents who have a variety of physical and cognitive issues. These include patients with post-traumatic head injuries, neurological disorders, spinal cord injuries, chronic pulmonary, infectious and cardiovascular disorders, brain tumors, and acute disabilities.

The goal of the treatment program is to return each patient to their maximal physical and cognitive independence for reintegration into the home, academic and community settings.

The PRM team is led by a board-certified Psychiatrist. All patients are evaluated and treated by the comprehensive team including a social worker, case manager, child life specialist, special education teacher, dietician, RN, and physical, occupational and speech therapists. The team meets daily to evaluate the ongoing needs of the patients and their families, assuring that all physical, cognitive and social needs are met.
