Welcome to the UCSD Pediatric Residency Program!

The goal of the UCSD Pediatric Residency Program is to train residents to become leaders in the field of Pediatrics as clinicians, scientists, advocates, and teachers. Our program is unique because it is a middle-sized program based in the largest children's hospital on the west coast and within a very strong academic pediatric department. The clinical and research resources of UCSD, Rady Children's Hospital and the greater San Diego research community are unmatched.

The UCSD/Rady Children's Hospital residency program is the only non-military training program for a population of over 3 million and we are located on an international border. This provides our trainees with access to an extremely diverse pediatric population and provides an international health experience right here in San Diego. The UCSD Department of Pediatrics is among the top NIH-funded research departments in the country creating both an environment and opportunity to explore research during residency and to prepare for academic careers.

Our residents participate in a variety of programs for continued intellectual growth including exposure to curricula in community pediatrics, global health, quality improvement, advocacy, and medical education. We foster continued career development with exposure to academic and community resources, allowing the resident to gain the tools to understand the steps involved in advancing their careers.

We are pleased to offer this program for applicants interested in becoming leaders in Pediatrics, and we look forward to working closely with our residents to train them to become the future of clinical care, research, and education..
