Research Excellence

UCSD is a world leader in scientific and medical research and is ranked 7th in the nation in federal R&D expenditures by the National Science Foundation. UCSD's total research funding for 2013 was over $1 Billion dollars at the University with over $50million dollars in pediatric research alone. 

UCSD Was ranked the 14th Best University in the World by the prestigious 2013 Academic ranking of World Universities and named 15th in the World for Scientific Impact. The UCSD School of Medicine is ranked 14th in research intensive programs by the US News and World Report in 2012.
