Pediatric Diabetes Research Center (PDRC)
Associate Research Scientist, UCSD Department of Pediatrics
Dr. C.C. King earned his PhD degree from the University of Tennessee, Memphis in 1996. Subsequently, he completed postdoctoral training at both The Scripps Research Institute in La Jolla and UC San Diego before joining UCSD’s Department of Pediatrics as an assistant research scientist in 2003. Additionally, he has served as a study section member on review panels for the National Institute of Health and numerous scientific journals.
Dr. King studies the differentiation of human embryonic stem cells into endocrine cells, including insulin-producing cells. Two ongoing projects in the King lab are 1) explore the signal transduction pathways that control specific stages of differentiation, and 2) understand how microRNAs regulate cell fate decisions.
