Program Director's Welcome

Welcome to the University of California, San Diego, (UCSD) Department of Psychiatry's Psychosomatic Medicine Fellowship Training Program!

In 2005 the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) awarded specialty designation to Psychosomatic Medicine (PM).  Soon thereafter the Council for Graduate Medical Education accredited programs of excellence to provide one year fellowship training in Psychosomatic Medicine.  In 2015 the Psychosomatic Medicine Fellowship training program at UCSD was awarded accreditation by the ACGME.

We offer training with a comprehensive range of Psychosomatic Medicine settings-including ambulatory and inpatient.  Rotations include maternal mental health, specialty clinics (pain and oncology), primary care mental health integrated clinic, and inpatient consultation-liaison.  Clinical experiences are inter-professional and interdisciplinary.  Our faculty are actively committed to teaching, research, and clinical services.

The program endeavors to train future Psychosomatic Medicine psychiatrists as clinicians, educators, leaders and researchers.

I welcome you to contact me with any questions.
