David Grelotti, MD, appointed Medical Director for Mental Health, UCSD Owen Clinic

David Grelotti, MDAnnouncement from our Chair, Dr. Igor Grant:

Dear Colleagues,

Please join me in welcoming David Grelotti, MD, Health Sciences Assistant Clinical Professor, who has agreed to lead mental health services for UCSD's Owen Clinic, a prime provider of health care to persons with HIV throughout San Diego County.

Dr. Grelotti received his MD from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, and thereafter residency training at Harvard Medical School in the Massachusetts General Hospital and McLean Hospital adult psychiatry and child psychiatry residency training programs. He was a Global Mental Health Delivery Fellow at Harvard Medical School, working in Haiti and southern Africa to build mental health services in these resource-limited settings. He subsequently completed a research fellowship in psychiatric epidemiology at the Harvard School of Public Health and was an attending in the Clinical Evaluation Center at McLean Hospital.

Dr. Grelotti's current research projects include a measurement-based care model for the treatment of depression among HIV-infected persons in Haiti, as well as studies of the recreational use of HIV antiretroviral medication in South Africa.

Dr. Grelotti has been evaluating and treating patients at Owen Clinic this past year, and will continue providing clinical care as he assumes his new role as Director of Mental Health Services at Owen commencing July 1, 2015.

Please also join me in thanking Thomas Marcotte, PhD, who has served as Mental Health Director at Owen for the past two years. Dr. Marcotte helped to recruit Dr. Grelotti and other psychiatrists and psychiatric nurse practitioners to strengthen our psychiatric contributions at Owen. Dr. Marcotte returns to full time HIV research.

Igor Grant, MD
