Established in 1984, one of the original five of the Alzheimer's Disease Centers supported by the National Institute on Aging, a branch of the National Institutes of Health. Their clinicians and basic researchers have been instrumental in making a number of discoveries which have helped the scientific community understand the clinical presentation and the basic biology of the disease, as well as basic research into potential targets for therapeutic intervention.

The Sam and Rose Stein Institute for Research on Aging, an Organized Research Unit of the University of California, San Diego, School of Medicine, is dedicated to the development and application of the latest advances in biomedical and behavioral science knowledge to issues of successful (healthy) aging and the prevention and reduction of the burden of disability and disease in late life.
Southern Caregiver Resource Center

Technology and Aging Coalition of San Diego
The San Diego Technology & Aging Coalition is a consortium of professionals and older adults who are passionate about helping seniors learn about and benefit from technology. The Coalition grew out of the County of San Diego's Aging Summit, a biennial event which brings together older adults and senior service providers for a day of learning and discussion of critical issues. Aging Summit 2010 focused on technology and its importance in the lives of older adults.
UCSD Senior Behavioral Health
The Senior Behavioral Health is a 14-bed inpatient acute geriatric psychiatry service. It was established in July 1997 to provide the highest quality individualized clinical care for senior adults needing behavioral health and medical treatment, and to do so in a clinically sophisticated, safe, comfortable, supportive and responsive treatment environment. Senior adult patients who are 65 and older are admitted voluntarily to the Unit for short-term treatment and care. Treatment services are provided by a multi-disciplinary and multi-specialty team and delivered with an integrated approach to the patient’s psychiatric and medical conditions.
