Raised in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, Dr. Hoisak received a BEng in Engineering Physics from McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario in 2000. After graduation, he joined the medical physics group at Sunnybrook Hospital/Odette Cancer Centre in Toronto, Ontario as a physics assistant. In 2004 he completed a Master of Science in Medical Biophysics at the University of Toronto, studying the correlation of breathing surrogates and lung tumor motion. He then moved to Princess Margaret Hospital where he developed software tools for anatomic and functional image analysis in support of treatment planning and response assessment, completing a PhD in Medical Biophysics at the University of Toronto. In 2011, he entered the CAMPEP medical physics residency at UC San Diego Moores Cancer Center. In 2013, Dr. Hoisak joined Cancer Treatment Services San Diego as a medical physicist, based at the UCSD South Bay Radiation Oncology clinic.

Dr. Hoisak is actively involved with the SBRT and SRS programs at the South Bay clinic, as well as the Xoft electronic brachytherapy program for skin and superficial cancers.
