A graduate of the University of California, Berkeley, Kevin Moore PhD completed his Medical Physics residency in the Department of Radiation Oncology at Washington University in St. Louis. Post-residency, he was an Assistant Professor at Washington University before moving back west to serve as Associate Division Director in the UCSD Department of Radiation Medicine and Applied Sciences. Together with physicist and physician collaborators, Dr. Moore is leading an effort to develop novel knowledge-based treatment planning methods and approaches. Knowledge-based planning involves applying prior knowledge from large datasets of previously treated patients in order to optimize treatment planning of new patients, significantly improving plan quality and efficiency. Dr. Moore has successfully applied this approach to head/neck and prostate cancer patients undergoing conventional fractionation, and is currently focused on developing new techniques for intracranial stereotactic radiosurgery and gynecologic cancers. He has published nearly 30 peer-reviewed papers and one book chapter, and is lead inventor on a patent regarding knowledge-based dosimetric prediction.
